Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds

Gotta hire fast.

Sega is expanding the Sonic Team, coinciding with the franchise's 35th anniversary.

As noted by My Nintendo News, these openings include several senior roles, such as a producer, lead planner, lead graphics programmer, and a technical art manager.

The job postings do not specify which project these new hires would be working on, as is typical. However, it suggests an acceleration of development on something mysterious in Shingawa City, Japan.

These listings arrive not only during a landmark year for the Sonic series but also after a relatively brief appearance at this year's Summer Game Fest. Beyond a trailer for Sonic Racing: Crossworlds and Sonic: Pico Park, the showcase was limited. While those reveals had their appeal, some fans left the event disappointed by the absence of a more substantial announcement from the company.

So, if you felt let down by the lack of a new Sonic Frontiers or Shadow the Hedgehog title, or something similar, it might just be a question of timing.
