Every Cloud.
It seems that the impressive Final Fantasy 7 Revelation trailer shown at Summer Game Fest was precisely what Square Enix needed: following a blockbuster trailer that highlighted a vast open world, key story developments, and enhanced combat, along with an extensive media tour after the reveal, enthusiasm for the Final Fantasy 7 Remake series appears to have skyrocketed.
Over the previous weekend, both Final Fantasy 7 Remake and Rebirth received notable price reductions on Steam as part of the platform's Final Fantasy franchise sale. Remake was reduced to a very reasonable £12.24, while Rebirth is priced at £15.99. This proved to be a shrewd move by publisher Square Enix, as Remake alone attracted well over 10,000 concurrent players on Steam in the last two days. Rebirth's figures were more restrained, reaching a peak of 6,751 players—yet these are still respectable numbers for two games that launched on Steam in 2022 and 2025, respectively.
Of course, Steam statistics represent only a portion of the overall picture, but seeing fans return to these titles is a strong sign that the marketing campaign for Final Fantasy 7 Revelation is succeeding. The final installment of the trilogy, the game promises to conclude the updated and reimagined story of Cloud and his companions as they strive to thwart Sephiroth's sinister schemes. It's worth noting that Remake and Rebirth have also recently been released on Switch 2 and Xbox, where undoubtedly many additional players are engaging with the franchise.
You can view a trailer for the game below.
"As the world hovers on the edge of destruction, the ultimate confrontation with Sephiroth commences," reads the description on a trailer.
"A meteor scars the sky, colossal planetary guardians cause chaos across the globe, and the fires of conflict blaze. Now, Cloud and his allies must rise against this turmoil to not only determine the planet's destiny, but also bring a legendary struggle to its end.
"In the final chapter of the FINAL FANTASY VII remake project, the scope has never been broader and the risks have never been greater. Soar through the skies and explore an endless world, battle alongside a complete party, master tactical and dynamic combat, and ready yourself for the epic finale.
"A vast planet awaits. Everything leads here."
Before this month's information release—most of which occurred during June's Summer Games Fest showcase—we had managed to gather a few clues about what to anticipate from the game. We knew, for example, that the generally likable yet annoying lab assistant Chadley would reappear in Part 3, potentially as a way to streamline mini-games for Square Enix's third entry in the reimagined FF7 universe. We also knew that Naoki Hamaguchi has already completed "over 40 full playthroughs" of the game, and that the title will not "compromise on graphics whatsoever" despite moving to a multiplatform release.
The game is scheduled to launch in 2027.
